Not a hero unless you die...

Sometimes getting killed is what makes you a hero in the first place. If one guy held a gun to another guy and a third guy came out and jumped in front of the bullet, took it in the heart, and got killed, that would be heroism by death.

I think you're taking my statements out of context. You don't have to die to be a hero, that's ridiculous; each person gets to be their own hero in their own way. (lol Farscape quote) But someone willing to die to save another, would, by definition and default, be a hero, and subsequently a man of valor.

Yeah, his statement was categorizing a death as "not suicide" more than stating what heroism is.

Unless, you took the chance to bring up a different point altogether.

Well, you're implying that if someone takes a bullet for someone else and lives, then they won't be recognized for it and that's simply not true. This is why we have medals like the purple heart in the military. However, unfortunately the most brave acts usually do end up with the hero being killed, which is why so many medals of honor are awarded posthumously. Whether many of those medals would have been awarded, had the soldier survived, we may never know.

Oh, and Kurt Cobain killed himself in 1994, not 1996, Cannonball.

naw its not suicide i mean unless your jumping in there to kill yourself but if your trying to save someone thats freakin awsome dude it shows that you have love and feelings for that person and that you dont want to see them die or have anything happen to them

yeah

as for the death hero thing, a funeral is for celebrating the positive impact the deceased had on the lives around them. If you don't like someone, tell them while they're alive, then keep it to yourself when they're dead.

when i die, i hope all my friends get together and have a huge party to celebrate my end. and i hope that i've left some sort of positive mark on those i love, that they come away with some good for having known me.
