Nostalgic Memories

Once again, I realize that this is a stupid thread. However, I wanted to get it created in order to determine whether or not people actually remember the animated programs that they’ve watched in their youth. For example, even though I can recall many brilliant animated programs that I watched over ten years ago, such as “Rocko’s Modern Life” or “Tiny Toon Adventures”, if somebody put a gun to my head and told me that I’d get killed if I couldn’t describe in great detail what took place in a dozen episodes, I’d get killed. Sure, I could recall the characters, a few base plotlines and some of my favorite quotes, but aside from that, I don’t really remember the shows that I claim to have fervently loved. In short, even though people always mention the shows that they’ve loved in their youth, and how awesome they were, how much do people actually remember about those shows? Perhaps I have an extremely poor memory, but considering the fact that I watched those programs so long ago, perhaps it’s natural. Suffice to say, it got me thinking and that’s why I got this thread created.

I hope that you all will share your thoughts. Have you recently posted about a show you used to love? Sit down and think, and you may be shocked to discover how little you can actually remember. Or maybe I’ll be the one shocked when I discover that I’m the only one who can’t remember these things.
 
I'm more shocked when i watch a show i liked in my youth how much i actually DO remember. I mean, when i watched my dvd of legendary super powers show, i was surprised to find that i remembered the "uncle mxypltik" and "Wrath of Brainiac" eps even though i hadnt seen them in years.
 
I can’t say that I’ve had many similar experiences. From time to time, I’ll watch an episode and I’ll remember its plot, and occasionally how it ended, but a vast majority of the episodes seem “new” to me again. I recently re-watched Sonic SatAM and even though I knew to expect certain things, I had pretty much forgotten most of what took place.

Maybe I just have a horrible memory. Granted, maybe that’s not a bad thing. Forgetting the shows you’ve loved allows you to fall in love with them all over again, unless your tastes changed and you find yourself disappointed. That’s a completely different issue, though.
 
My animation youth is very vague. I can mention stuff from the thirties but am simply not old enough to see the original. However. I remember holiday shows of classic novels redone in animation that I'm looking to find again. It was a recreation of the old story "Brotherhood of the Black Arrow". I can't even find images of it. No one on any board has an idea of what I'm talking about.
 
I assume this is the special made in 1973 by Air Programmes International in Australia. It's listed in my Chronology of Animation.

Replying to the thread, I can usually remember the general character design of shows, types of background art, the regular characters, and the type of stories but don't remember the details of that many episodes. Thus I can remember some of my oldest watched tv series in general like Ruff and Ready, Tom Terrific, and Huckleberry Hound. In some ways it would be nice to remember everything but its better to be surprised by how different the past reality was compared to my memories.
 
I remember Ducktales and My Little Ponies being my favorites when I was in preschool/kindergarten age. I haven't seen either one in ages. I do remember a lot more about Ducktales. I remember all of the charecters along with several episodes. With My Little Ponies I don't remember hardly anyone's name and hardly remember any episodes
 
I miss Saturday morning cartoons :(, old nick, and 80s cartoons. But its ok, almost all of them are on dvd now, so I can live LOL.
 
I loved Rainbow Brite as a kid - but now I don't remember anything at all about the series, save for the movie and that San Diego Zoo video.

I don't know the names of any of the My Little Ponies, save for two or three. I have a vague recollection of their movie (or was it the first episode?).

Ducktales is easier because we had a few episodes taped, and I watched those a lot over the years. But when I bought the DVDs, most I didn't recognize or even know about.
