Noobie needing GPS help

Hello,
I have done some searching and with every search I have just gotten more confused. I am trying to figure out an in car navigations solution.

I have a T3 and cannot find good information on how to use this as a GPS for driving. I can't find a place that sells all the things that I need to make it work. I also just picked up a Garmin Etrex if that helps at all.

I have no idea what else I need to make this work in my car. What mount, what power supply, what software, what additional connections such as antenna.

I am really lost on this stuff and I have to take a long trip in a couple of weeks in which in car navigation would help a lot. I'm ready to go out and just buy a specific in car navigation system, but I would like to give this a shot first.

Whatever help you can offer I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

Here is what works for me...

www.semsons.com locate the itrek battery powered bluetooth adapter for the eTrex

For software I use delorme street atlas 2006Handheld. I have seen a lot of people talk about TomTom as another alternative. The difference: SA 2006HH $30US, TT $150.

For a mount, I have been looking at the Arkon powered vent mount available at semsons as well. it has an amplified speaker and a power =cord for your Palm.
