Where did you read that the Default Android Messaging SMS app kills battery? and what do the other ones do so much betteR?

Number one biggest improvement to my G1 and Nexus One Battery life was adding a task manager like TasKiller to my daily things. I'd kill all the apps running in background that don't need to be. like you open browser, and have 2 pages running. and then hit home. if you don't go back, Browser is open all day, or for a few days sucking power. around 25-60kb 60 being multiple pages open.. this all day for days lowers battery, same goes to the Gallery, or MAPS is a battery killer. things like this.
I use tasKiller (with 1 K) the paid version as I don't want adds on the full free version. and I kill things when I'm done. other than only killing browser when I'd done with it so I don't have to go back to where I was. I do this a few times throughout the day and it severely helps battery.
