Greetings,
I figured I would introduce myself to the community, I have been reading the forums for a while and contemplating the switch from WebOS. Well finally, after a 5th replacement Pre, which I got the day it was released last June, Sprint has offered to replace it with a Samsung Moment. I pressed them for an Evo, but at this point I'm happy to hopefully have a functioning phone.
I have to say I have been very disapointed in almost every facet of the Palm Pre, hardware, OS, and application development. I have had countless hardware issues. Futhermore, the WebOS updates almost seem to cause more issues. The memory leaks were embarassing! But even more so, was the open development of the OS and applications.
What I thought WebOS would bring to the table, Android has instead. I bet on the wrong one, but hopefully Android fills my needs. I think what Apple is doing with the iPhone should be investigated the same way Microsoft was. I am amazed how they can restrict the development of applications to a specific compiler. I can see why Adobe is mad!
Anyway, I'm getting my phone tomorrow and have an rough idea of what I am planning on doing first, but would love some feedback and suggestions:
1. Fortunatly I am already using google for everything, so I assume set up should be a Brees (who dat!) Lifetime Saints fan!
2. Root, root, root away! I see the great tutorial for the Moment 2.1 in the sub-forum.
3. Find the best tethering application, I plan on eating up as much of my unlimited data as I can from Sprint.
4. Search for the best free apps in the google apps...any suggestions?
5. Look to help test any developing applications! Which is about the extent of my worth! BTW- are there any applications for installing beta apps, unsure how this works vs. Pre.
Links would be great!
Thanks!
