Hey guys, sorry in advance for any erabarrassment I might cause myself. Anyways I am thinking of getting a new phone as Cricket phones suck and I am wondering what your suggestions are for a good easily flashable (proper etiquette?) phone. I want a smartphone, so any suggestions?

PS- Oh and by the way I have never flashed a phone before so hijacking a new phone and doing it would probably make my brain explode.

na this is a ok topic.... depenRAB on what u want if u want a pda...u want to go withthe 6800 since ites the most cracked/hacked phone for cricket

if u want a smartphone go with the motorola Q since u can get the phone workin with phone/sms/mms/web for cricket

now as for just regular phones...u might want to ask some one else

The easiest phone to mod for cricket is the 6700... Either Verizon (black) or Alltel (silver). Avoid Qwest and Sprint phones if you want an easy flash.

The 6800 is a better phone, but if you want to enable all of it's features, it's not "easy" to flash. It requires some skills and some software.

My thoughts: If you want to flash it yourself, and you don't want to dig deep into research and learn a bunch, buy a 6700. If you're up for a challenge, buy a 6800.

my deal was 319.99 for nib just flashed.. plus 512 sd card and free esn change plus free shipping.. didnt seem to bad..seller wouldnt disclose what rom he was usijng ..just kept saying ill be happy with it ... So as heck hope so ... Here's a lil story that pi$$ed me off.. i went to my local sprint store quoisk at my mall and asked if they had the 6800..they said no ..then i asked about the 6900 and the guy said wow..thats alot of phone ..I think that phone is too much for you ..other people brought back thier phone cause it was too much for them ..Then i said do you have one or not???He said im telling you that phone is too much for you ..I waved my card and said well this money is too much for you .. and went into verizon store which was right next door..Checked out thier 6800 and fell in love and click buy it now from ebay. hate when money burns a hole in my pocket

Well I guess I would prefer a PDA, I would like something with Win 6.0 and evdo would be nice too. Appears the 6800 is the best bet, just trying to stay in the 200-250 range. I know beggars can't be choosers.

**Edited to add**

Well I have some basic knowledge when it comes to technical things it's just flashing a phone is completely new to me. I am pretty sure I could make it through flashing a phone myself, but alas it is a bit scary when your spending money on something that might not be a sure bet.

I would have given him a big fat lolz. I hate those jerk kiosk people. There was a Verizon guy who stopped me in the middle of the mall, literally flagged me down because he saw my cell phone. He told me it was a bad model and I needed a new one. I said, "well that may be but could you please leave me the hell alone". He had this bizarre look on his face like couldn't believe anyone would dare say such a thing. I just can't believe the audacity of those guys. Sheesh.

I guess I should have gone with that one. I am not going to get a free ESN change and I am going to have to deal with Cricket service. Gag.

Based on your description, the 6700 would also fit your neeRAB and your budget.

The 6800 is sleeker and has built in GPS.. Other than that, they're very similar. There is a WM6 rom for the 6700 as well.

My opinion, I'd get a 6700, use it for a few months, then decide if you want to upgrade. That way you'll have a little flashing experience...

Alternatively, buy an alltel or verizon 6800 and don't install a GPS rom right away.. the 6800 is an easy flash, right up until you want GPS. However, you'll pay $400 for an Alltel or Verizon 6800.

Thanks for the help. I guess I could have scrolled down on the main Cricket page and saw someone asked a similar question to mine. Anyways I have seen on Ebay where they have a pre-flashed 6800 for Cricket service, would it be worth it just to get that? It's 300. I am the type who would rather have the newer and better, and pay a little more. I know I would just end up getting the 6700 wanting the 6800. Silly I know.

well if yall get ya phones and ya not happy with ya rom's ill be glad to help...walk yall thru flashing a new rom ...unlike some folks i really dont mind helpin out "walkin thru so just pm me or hit me on aim

That's a pretty good deal, my only question is the "quality" of the flash. You might end up having to reprogram the phone every time you hard reset.

I think blee on these forums can sell you a brand new mogul for about $325. His would include a custom rom with all the cricket settings on it for you. I'd recommend going that way.

I'm guessing that would be without S&H? Then again I'm guessing I should ask Blee and not you? Ha. Thanks for the help, I'll message him and check it out. Also do you guys work deals out? I have something very valuable to people I could trade.

im trying to change my slider sound.. It says to put the sound files in windows directory.. Well i see the directory usinf the mobile file expolrer. But when im searching the mobile from my computer i cant find the windows folder..Im trying to drag and drop.. any ideas?

dude you rock !!!! .. that def. makes me feel better... whats the best way to see what we got when we get it ? is there a system page thats gives rom name /type?

I searched google with the worRAB "mogul" "vx6800" "ppc6800" and "6800" (not in quotes, try each one with the other two phrases,) in addition to "bad esn" (in quotes) and "craigslist" (no quotes)....

I pulled up what I'm guessing are a bunch of you guys posting to buy phones but I also found a guy selling one for $100, he musta had a few offers so he told me $150 and I paypaled the funRAB on over (don't do this is you can't effectively googlestalk somebody to know they're legit)....

Anyway, I had some hitches and I'm going to post in the 6800 hack post what they were so you don't have to spend 5 hours searching and reading like I did... So if you get your phone there you go. I would say other than one slight issue I could have gotten the phone up and running, web, texts and all within 45-60 minutes if I'd known what I was doing...

PM Me if you have any questions... Maybe I'll tackle my env next...

Hey Quad there used to be this great graphic of a mouse hand going to "New thread" and then another mouse hand coming from no where and pulling it to "search" and then big blinking red letters that said, "Search before you post!!". I wish I could find that thing. I'm sure I should have looked at that too!

Alright I have had a few problems with my phone. the mms is spotty and I had the generic problem of when it goes into sleep mode I had to soft reboot. easily fixed by turning off sleep mode. oh and what's up with the headphones? most uncomfortable things ever! Outside of that I love the phone. Oh and Cat did your phone come with the 512 micro card? Mine didn't.
