None of my XBOX 360 headsets are working!?

I have four 360 wired headsets and none of them work. I can hear the other player's voices through the tv but when I plug the headset into the controller I am not able to hear anything but the other player's are able to hear me according to one of my friends who helped me test it. I tried all of the headsets with two different controllers so I know it's not the controllers acting up. We tried everything and there are no settings that prevent me from talking to other players because they were all working fine a couple months ago. I called the Xbox 360 support line and they said the problem might be the console. Can anyone suggest anything else to try to maybe get them to work? Thanks and any help is appreciated.
 
It sounds like it's time for a new headset, the xbox wire headset h ave a short life and in the wireless headsets they lose their charge after a while and no longer charge. So you might just have to get a new headset
