Whenever I use my Proventil (albuterol) inhaler I only use one puff because the medication makes me so shaky and causes my heart arrhythmias to be worse then they already are normally.
I was wondering if there's any breathing treatments (nebulizer treatments or inhalers) that are non-steriod and non-albuterol that do not cause heart arrhythmias?

Thanks to all,
Happy Holidays!

Sabrina

The Proventil does not have a steroid in it. The albuterol/proventil is an "upper" which is why you get that way. It eventually subsides but you might ask your doctor for a ProAir HFA inhaler. They don't seem to make you shake as much. At least that's my experience and that of others I know.

And the only non-steroidal daily preventer for asthma is Singulair, a pill. It doesn't work for everyone. You don't say what daily med you are on so can't tell you much more.

I have a ProAir HFA inhaler (unused) and on the front of the box it says it is (Albuterol Sulfate Inhalation Aerosol) I mean Albuterol is Albuterol right?
Or are there different Albuterols?

Thanks,
Sabrina

Yes, but as with all drugs which are marketed under varying names, each manufacturer tweaks their product a little. Since you have the ProAir, give it a try and see if it works better for you.

Exp. date on my ProAir box is 05/2010. Don't know if I shoudl use it being expired.

Thanks,
Sabrina

Thank you Titchou for all your help, Think I'll try it and ask my doctor for a refill should it work out good for me.

Thank again!
Sabrina

Other than it might not do anything for you, I think it should be OK. I guess I'm just lucky that all the meRAB I was orginally prescribed for asthma worked and continue to do so. Sure do count my blessings in that department.

Good luck!
