non-"HTC" G1 chargers messing with touchscreen response

Funny this thread pops back up when I experience this for the first time a couple of nights ago. I can confirm this does in fact happen. I never even bothered taking the OEM charger out of the box because I was using an old Moto charger I had laying around. That particular charger started giving me problems so I grabbed the first USB charger I could find(I've accumulated quite a few over the years) and noticed my screen could hardly register a touch when connected. I immediately noticed it since I have the slide2unlock app, and was unable to get my screen to register a touch, and slide.

Anyway, I have been suffiicently scared straight, so I'm currently using the OEM.
 
i use regular usb cords all the time and never an issue

..just love when people state a fact in their thread title that is actually a question
 
I have one USB charger out of many laying around the house and office that does this.
I can't say if it's the charger from my old Razr or from my Wing but everytime I use it to charge the phone at the office the touchscreen is messed up.

I also noted that my universal USB cable that has an adapter for different USB connections does not work to sync with the computer.

I have a USB charger at home, in the car, and at the office. The one at the office is the only one that messes up the touchscreen.

Here are the specs on each adapter (HTC adapter is actually one from Wing as the Q1 charger is at home)

HTC
Input: 100-240V 200mA 50-60Hz 13-20VA
Output: 5V 1A LPS

Non-HTC
Input: 100-250V 200mA 47-63Hz
Output: 4.5V-12.5V Max 700mA
 
Same issue wirh a wall charger I found. MOT-V3 (motorola?) Max 800mA. 3rd party Usb cable works fine, though.

can we say G1s need a full Amp output and close the thread? Or do we think there's more to it than that?

Or is this thread redundant and could be closed anyway...

EDIT: wow, old thread... just found this out about my phone, though, scared the crap outta me.
