yeah but it's a phone. It's foremost purpose is to "send" calls and subsequently "end" calls. I mean, it's just dumb to have a "Back" button AND a "Clear" button, when every other manufacturer allows them to be combined onto ONE key.

The SE 'interface' (or lack thereof) is academic anyway.
The only Symbian phones they do are touchscreen (bucket please !) anyway.
And from what I understand - even then, UIQ 3.0 sucks to high heaven.
Sony would sell at least another 50% more phones if they dropped the absurd interface-continuity farce.
It doesn't make their phones distinctive, it makes them unbuyable.
All they need to do is swallow some of their Jap pride, accept that they need green and red, drop UIQ and start DESIGNING rather than keep knocking out slab-phones.
BTW, is it true that the use of the word 'no' is social suicide in Japan ?

It's nothing to do with competence - and everything to do with ease of use.
SE would do well to take heed of the fact.

I actually don't have too much of a problem with SE handsets, for dumbphones anyway... They're way better than moto or sammy, that's for sure! UIQ is better now than it was, but still miles behind S60 in the UI dept.
At any rate, if I was buying a dumbphone, I'd buy an SE over an Series 40 phone anyday...
...of course it's all academic, because i'll not stray from s60 again
