Nokia USA hardware repair center review - headset speaker repair

Thanks to everyone for the input. I think I will just have to go back to my n95 8gb for a while to get that done. I hope I don't feel the absence too much :D . One last question. I have read in some forums that if I send it back, it would be wise to not include the battery cover. Sounded kinda' silly to me but you never know. Any ideas?

Thanks again. gotta love these forums.

1- I had called the Nokia care to check the status and i was told that i will be getting a new phone.
2- When i got the phone, the accompanying letter from Nokia said that "we could not repair your unit according to our satisfaction so we are sending you brand new phone" I have no reason to doubt a company letter
3- If you have been using Nokia N & E series phones for last 7 years, you know the look, feel and smell of new phone ;)

Palco is Nokia's (un)repair service in the US. I've returned my 5530 twice with some software issues. They have returned the same phone twice without the issues resolved.

First time buying a Nokia direct, and so far, an unsatisfactory experience. Bought two phones at the same time and 2nd phone is problem free. Love the phone, hate the service.

Palco is terrible and as a result so is Nokia...A big reason they will have a hard time knocking the iphone from it's perch - terrible customer service & support

Shame really

i had a terrible experience a while back with an e70, well within the warranty period, had to send it back twice, they tried to return it to a wrong address and had to be resolved with the help of the bbb. In the end i got the phone back working and was fully reimbursed for the original purchase amount. After all the grief i actually sold the phone for a profit.

If better phones existed I would no longer buy nokia. I don't know for how much longer but I'm still spending money with them.

For me, Palco's turn over in repair time has been stellar in the past year or so.

Edit:
This thread prompted me to check my N97 repair status.

Look how fast this is:

Current Status Shipped Repaired Original Phone
03/09/10 Repair in Progress
03/09/10 Received
03/04/10 Pending Receipt by the Repair Center

My last two recent experiences with Nokia care(PALCO) have been good. Last month I sent in my N86 for poor audio quality and within 3 days of receiving it they sent me out a new(refurb?) unit.

Last week, I sent in my N97-3 to Nokia care because it wouldn't update firmware 21.2.045. Within one day of receiving it, they had it fixed and on its way back to me. I don't know if this was related to my problem but they also replaced the camera assembly. Mine was one of the units that didn't have the 1mm gap in between the camera cover and lens. Hopefully this is a sign that Nokia has taken a more active interest in post-sale service.

They also threw in a $10 gift card for the OVI store.

Palco and Nokia customer service in the US are a sad joke. Phones are user friendly and sophisticated, but they'll never compete with the Iphone for customer service.

They finally exchanged out my phone and I have it for a week without the previous software issues. Returned it 3 times, didn't get anywhere before I threatened to open a credit card dispute with American Express for failure to deliver a usable product.

Now let's talk about the original rebate on the phone that they said the processing center made an error on, but they weren't going to pay until I called in. Still don't have it.

headset speaker is easy to replace yourself to be honest
10$
couple days for shipping
5 mins to actually open up the phone and change it

i've done it with the n86 (i'm pretty sure it voids the warranty, which im not even sure where it is, since i didn't tear any paper/stickers )

Last week, my 4 month old E71-2 began rebooting (crashing) every time I tried to turn it off. I called up Nokia Customer Care and they sent me a label for 2 day free shipping to Palco in Alabama. They received it on Friday. On Monday, Nokia repair said they were sending me a different E71-2 with a new IMEI #. UPS says it's coming on Wednesday.
Turn around seems to be good so far. Hope the next E71-2 lasts longer than 4 months.

My wife who is like a terminator when it comes to cell phones managed to break lose the lock switch on the side, she got a refurbished phone in about 7-10 days from when she sent it in.
