cool! i have the same phone.
okay so here's what you do
1. press the menu button (the middle one)
2. go to the settings icon and tap it (wrench)
3. tap personal
4. tap profiles
5. tap normal
6. a thing pops up. tap customize
7. adjust whatever you want. if you dont know what each of them do go to options and help.
p.s. a mail icon should appear on your screen at the top if you have a text message. a light will also blink from the menu button when in screen lock mode.
but you could always put on an alert.
dont worry, you'll get a hang of the phone. i mean, i've had it for like a couple months now and im still learning shortcuts
