Nokia Nuron and Nokia Messaging

I have talked to 3 reps at T-Mobile and no one can answer my question.

I want to know about Nokia messaging and extra charges. I ordered the phone with the $10 web service but no texting. They cannot tell me whether Nokia messaging using text or regular data.

Can anyone here tell me?

It uses data. If Nokia starts charging for Nokia Messaging, just use the built-in email client for your email need. Otherwise you can try System Seven email client (beta and free right now).

I too don’t have text service, but have been using the Nuron’s built in OVI email client that uses your data plan. (no extra text charges) It would be nice to find an app that would send text style messages through my data plan.

OVI email I believe they are going to start charging for eventually. It uses the Nokia mail umbrella which was explained to me to be in beta and ultimately not free.

I was eventually able to set up 2 emails on my phone without using any of that. One created from my domain and a gmail account. The settings are there but not really easy to find. There is even automatic retrieval.

I tried setting up the one for my domain with secure settings but it has a bug. It kept asking for the certificate even though I ticked to accept permanently.

I had a link I was saving for the t-mo forums about email but the link is not working this morning so I guess it no good anymore. You can find some help there too.

I really love this phone. Make sure you update to the latest software.
