I just bought my n95 and i cant even browse long enought to get low ram. What kind of **** is that. I am always opening HandyTask to see how much ram i have left. Can they fix that issue with a firmware update?
I doubt it.
It's straightforward, penny-pinching lack of RAM (possibly exacerbated by poor memory handling) - which means it's not really a multi-tasking device at all.
I'd rather have paid another $100 for sufficient RAM and quality externals.
Why don't nokia make it and call it the N95e for those willing to pay ?
Prolly because it would impact profitability.
Makes you wonder if they didn't try it with more RAM and find that due to memory handling issues, it didn't really help.
Why else would they sacrifice such an important element of functionality ?
This is the only thing I hate about my N73. Multitasking is just impossible with this phone. It's unbelivable Nokia even call these phones Multimedia computers. Pity you can't upgrade RAM on these phones like you can with a PC.
I have the same thing. Ny N95 can only open the biggest newspaper sites (2 MB) if "fresh", i. e. after a restart or some cache cleaning or something. And it can only do it once if I am to look at the pictures. My N80 is much much better in the respect. This is the sort of thing that a system update can make wonders with though.
My webbrowser got so you jammed by the big websites that I downloaded, so no I can't even open it at all, not even after restart of the phone! Don't know what to do. I downloaded Opera 8.65 as a temporary fix.
idk wtf is wrong with your n95 lol.. i browse the web 24/7 with out any prob!! i think the fw should clear up some rams like they did for the n80.. good luck
I had major memory problems with the N80 especially web browsing and zooming on pictures but when I updated the firmware these problems vanished! I have no doubt that when the firmware is available for update on the N95 these memory issues can be resolved although to be honest I have had little or no problems with memory on my N95 yet...
The question is why they would need a firmware update to do this when they should have done it right out of the box.
I don't surf the web much, but when I tried with my now returned N95, I found that once you have a couple of web pages running, the RAM would become an issue. If no web surfing, the RAM was good for me to have a few applications open. I think that Nokia's Web Browser if very RAM hungry.
How do you figure? Other than the E61/i the E series phones haven't been much better. The E70, E50, and E62 are just as guilty. Other than the unreleased/upcoming E90 the E series has really only got 1 model with decent RAM. The N70 was a monster when it came to RAM so in my book they're even up. If you want to talk about construction and durability then the lesson can begin imo...
Yeah I think the Native Browser is beautiful, but very RAM hungry. I too use Opera. It loads pages faster and doesn't eat as much RAM, but the pictures are not as nice on the screen........
pffft, ram isn't the only issue. Parsing a heavy HTML webpage causes pretty much all symbians to have a coronary and faint. Try CNN's homepage for example... oh boy!
And it's not the bandwidth to blame When tethering from my laptop, I load pages smoothly. And when using WiFi on the phone, it won't load much faster.
