Nokia N95 or E61i/E65?

Well I have the N80 and the E70-2 atm, but lately I've been using the E70-2 full time because of the keyboard.

I'll be spending a while in Europe soon so I've been looking for a quad band phone preferably with a keyboard, although I suppose I could do without it.

I'm drawn to the N95 naturally because I liked my N80 and it seems like such an upgrade... but no qwerty keyboard.

Then I looked at the E61i, but I'm not sure if I'd like how wide it is and if it would be pocketable or not. Although, I do like having the keyboard there instead of having to fold it out every time like on the E70.

The E65 I guess is just a slimmed down version of the N95 without some of the features.

I'm mostly going to be using the phone for PIM, light spreadsheet work (which is why I like the keyboard), emailing, maybe some pics/vids, etc. I'm not entirely sure if my light office use will warrant having a qwerty keyboard or not so I'm wondering (since I've never actually held an E61i or E61/E62) if the E61i would be small enough to carry around in a pocket?

Also I'm a little tired of phones with small screens like the N80/E70, even though they're high pixel density. But I'm worried that the E61i's 2.8 inch screen with only 320x240 res will be too pixelated?

If you want the high-end all-rounder i'd say N95, obviously there's the 5mp camera, music, gps etc and combined with the Nokia SU-8W Wireless Keyboard you're good to go for the light spreadsheet work, emailing etc you mentioned, and after you've paired with the keyboard, it takes about 10 seconds to get going with it, if you have bluetooth on it's literally the time to turn on the keyboard and open the holder.

you're having no problems with PIM on the N95 either, oh and the screen is pretty lush on it as well, i'd say check this link out to see how good it can be

Thanks for the reply! It does seem the N95 is truly a revolutionary device. However I'm not sure I'd want to carry around an external keyboard... I like having everything in an all-in-one package, which is why I still have the E61i in mind.

I haven't been able to find any side-by-side pictures comparing the sizes of the E61i and the N95 though... probably because they're both extremely new.
 
Well I like my E70 but the screen is too small. Reading sites and emails gets tiring for my eyes so I was wanting a phone with a larger screen.

Also, I was wondering if the E61i had any memory problems like the N80/E70/N95 does when browsing?
 
I have the E61i right now and I really like returning to the full qwerty.
Compared to the E70 qwerty, the E61i buttons are spaced out enough to accomodate my fingertips which allowed for faster typing.

It has a metallic outer frame and is MUCH slimmer than the previous E61/E62 so I think it is pocketable.
The 2.8 inch screen simply puts the E70 to shame and although the resolution may not be as good, it still manages to do well.

I tried a separate bluetooth keyboard with both the N95 and N93, but portability can only go so far.

If you are fine with the quality of the E70 2-megapixel camera, then the E61i will not let you down.

The web browsing didn't appear to have any problems, but I haven't done that much since receiving it.

The width and height of the E61i can be comparable to the Treo, but with a MUCH slimmer form factor.

I plan to also have the E90 shipped to me, so I may keep that along with this E61i.

it?s a no-brainer for me to choose E61i over N95 (other ppl may hv diff views):

1. Huge freakin 2.8″ landscape screen with 16.7Millions colors! (I watch lots of torrent TV shows when travelling + good for blogging and emailing)
2. Duracell-on-steroid battery life compares to N95
3. Fast Qwerty Keyboard (ultra comfy and nice too!)
4. 6300-like super sleek, slim and minimal design
5. USD260 cheaper than N95
6. Although camera is not good but still very usable and practical for quick shot and it?s fast with minimal shutter lag unlike n95
7. Builtin QuickWord and QuickSheet
8. No GPS (this is not a feature but seriously I don need it in a phone)
9. The symbian OS is far more snappier compares to Windows Mobile (sorry this is not to compares to N95)
10. And finally, it?s an ?i? version of nokia phone meaning its the improved version from an older version where most things (bugs, functionalities, etc) are already sorted out and fixed. Its too painful for me if I buy N95 now and then they release N95i in few months time?insane!

E61i is a must buy for those who want a bigger screen phone with amazing battery life and nice design

Thanks for the replies! Seems I'm getting votes for both the N95 and the E61i... I'm wondering how pocketable the E61i is though. I know it's way thinner than the N95, but it's a bit more squarish.

Also one thing I'm unsure about is the N95 has a faster processor and a dedicated video chip, but still suffers from RAM problems. It seems the E61i doesn't from what I've read.

I'm used to the E70 camera now so I'm not that worried about a 5mp camera, even though it would be nice (although I hated the sluggishness of the camera on my N80).

So far I've had no luck finding comparison pictures of the N95 and E61i together, or even in-hand pics of the E61i. Even those are hard to gauge since people have different sized hands! The closest thing I've managed to do is look at the Blackberry 8700 in the T-mobile shops but I'm not sure what the size difference is.

I'm down to the differences:

N95:
1. Smaller, but a little thicker, more pocketable IMO
2. Better camera, but slower
3. Faster processor and video chip
4. GPS
5. 3.5mm headphone jack and TV out, nice for using as music player
6. Good stereo speakers and earpiece volume
7. Dedicated music keys
8. Symbian 9.2 vs. E61i's 9.1 (correct me if I'm wrong)

E61i:
1. Thinner, but wider
2. Way better battery life
3. QWERTY keyboard!
4. Bigger screen
5. Seems to have less RAM problems

I can't make a decision! If anyone has anything to add to either list feel free!
 
i am also a n80 previously and i almost bought n95 but the dealer had no more stock..then i saw the pics from Eseries unboxing of E61i and i'm totally fall in love with it...

ok now..choose e61 if:
1. you need a big landscape screen and nice QWERTY
2. Battery life
3. no-nonsense fast 2MP shooter
4. Quickoffice editor

choose n95:
1. DVD-like video recording
2. Output and play your games on TV
3. dont care if nokia release n95i in few months time

(i didnt mention the 5MP camera bcoz the colors still not there yet and it is painfully slow...n80 to me is barely acceptable but this is worst...i dont think they will be able to fix the lag with firmware upgrade bcoz its hardware)
 
I think that 5MP camera is overrated. The couple of pictures I took with it are no better than those I took with the N93 (and I will even stretch to say the E61i).
 
Sorry to revive an old thread, but can someone who owns an E61i tell me if you can use it with a bluetooth keyboard? I know the E61i already has the qwerty keyboard, but I want to use a full-size keyboard. I thought I read someplace that the E61i doesn't support a bluetooth profile for external keyboards. Can someone deny or confirm this?

Where is the best place to buy the E61i? I have a BB 8700 and thinking of moving tot he Nokia device. I assume it is an unlocked GSM device. Are there any issues setting it up on Cingular?
