Nokia N95-2 / N95i / N95 (US) - Availabliity & Pricing Question

By the time a 3G N95 is released sometime in August/September I've already sold my N95 and onto a new Nokia. When I had my N73 and N91 and the ME versions came out I didn't even bother.

It would make life blog and flickr usable in the US. Not to mention surfing while on a call. So many times I could use pulling up an e-mail from gmail and still talking over BT. Right now, I use my E62 way too much. It should be for BBC only, damn thing is too slow.

I think I'm leaning towards that statement as well. I'll believe it when I see it. I don't care about sources/contacts or any shenanigans other than cold hard facts! As Gwapz would say, "It was right on my face"

I for one am pretty happy with the Edge speed on the n95...hell of a lot quicker than my 8125 was and it even loads cnn and espn quickly. honestly the browser is great and makes browsing the web very speedy.

If you really tether with your phone that much I guess 3g would be worth it but I hardly use it, and I have built in wwan to my thinkpad anyway.

3g would drain the battery even quicker, and a lot of people already complain about battery life, though it has been fine for me so far.

And the speculation that current n95's are capable of 3g is probably bogus, remember when people tried to change the n80's band, that didnt do anything. its hardware. yes triband 3g chips exist, htc uses them but that alone doesnt mean there is one in the n95.

also mooninite, i think 75% of your posts are you threatening to report people, its the internet man, people are gonna write and post whatever they want, if you dont wanna read what they have to say just ignore it. did someone come to your house and make you click on this thread?

It makes a HUGE difference when tethering. When I moved I was without internet for a few days so I signed up for a 3G PC card and it was a huge difference compared to tethering with my E62 on EDGE. Unfortunately my neighborhood bounces between an EDGE/3G connection so I canceled the service. Using the internet and emails would be my only real need but It would be nice to do that while on a voice call. I will adopt the first qwerty 3g from Nokia but other than that I'll pass.

Im curious can someone do a speed test to see exactly how fast the EDGE is on the N95. Use Dslreports or a similar website.

Thanks

Qualcomm would flip if Nokia had these chips in all the phones already. I mean Nokia isn't going nuts with 3G in the US for one big reason and that is Qualcomm has most of the patents for WCDMA(UMTS,HSPDA) chips and I think even more so with American WCDMA (UMTS,HSPDA) chips

3G is also useful for viewing attachments. Remember s60 is so freaking amazing you can actually view MS Office docs. So you can talk on the phone, check your e-mail for the doc the other party just sent, then discuss the data in the attachment. That's 3G!!!
