Nokia N93 unable to connect to cingular Edge/GPRS

I just got a Nokia N93 to review and I'm having trouble connecting to cingular's Edge/GPRS network. I show a full single, but whenever I try to use a data connection it just sits there and fails to connect. I know the N93 is only tri-band, so this might be the issue, but I wanted to ask here if anyone had any suggestions before I gave up.

Thanks

it should have nothing to do with the lack of the 850 band. did you try getting the settings sent to your phone through nokias website or though cingulars customer service? make sure you have the right gateways and everything set up right. you will have to set up the settings manually since its an unbranded phone.

I've had the same issue for some time now. I know someone in the Cingular forum mentioned that it could be because its missing the 850 band.

I'm using an N73 now and have no problems connecting.

I think you need to call Cingular 1st and add that features.. Its either the Pay per use or the Data plan..

Cause I had the same experience.. My phone wouldn't connect to Cingular Media net GPRS. So I called them and told me I don't have that turned on on my account so I decided to ask them to turn it on.. After few mins. I can access the internet on my phone..

I don't think it has to do with the lose of 850..

Tried it with my 6020, N70 and 6630 both tri-band with no 850.. Worked fine!

I figured it out, I had to change the password to: CINGULAR1, which is the standard medianet password, I don't know what the default settings stuck in there. Anyway, I can connect not, although at surprisingly low speeds. I'm only getting 62kbit/sec on dsl reports, where my 2125 would get 200kbit/sec on a regular basis. Still, at least I can connect .
