Nokia N80 Offline Mode = Flight Safe?

man I'm always afraid, regardless -- I think the minute you whip out your phone on a plane a sekrit airline ninja is going to fly out of the shadows and start kickstabbing. and they won't speak English so I'm totally screwed trying to explain for my life.

Howard Stern is the best traveling companion period! Stern and a PSP when I had one were the ultimate when I used to fly to vegas 4 or 5 times a year. Now I'm a pops so Atlantic City every couple of months...gotta sacrifice I guess.

True...but I thought he was saying that the fact that it can work in off-line, it would some how broadcast some kind of signal that would interfere with the airplanes electronic system.

I think that's what he was saying at least

The last time I was in an airplane - that was last Oct., howcome the stewardess said to turn off any cellphones, and flight mode IS prohibited?!

Offline mode will turn off all transmitters, but you can still choose to re-enable bluetooth and wifi if you so choose. The phone will ask you if you are sure though.

I'm taking a trip to Australia next week, and the flight is 14.5 hours. I doubt my N80 battery will last that long.

That's why I'm bringing along one of these (yes, it charges my battery just fine).

umm...most people are not cell phone informed so i think she didnt know that there were phone's with flight mode. go email these people here http://www.tsa.gov/index.shtm thats the web site for the people who make the rule on what can and cant go on the plane. i remember were they were going crazy about me brining my dell on flight, good thing my back pack has a place to hide my battery!!

I usually cover the number pads of any cell phones I've had and played it off like it was a PDA or something. That' sthe benefit to using Smart phones. I played with my N73 all the time and they thought it was a digital camera I'm sure. Yes, stewards and stewardesses dont know a damn thing about them but I'm for one not going to start a scene over if and get shot running through the terminal!
