Nokia N8 Unlocked-Unbranded now available in Canada

I've purchased many, many devices from SN Traders and don't have any of the horror stories that some people on here might have. A couple things to note: 1) If you live in the GTA, they are located in Mississauga and all the prices on their website are reduced by $50 if you go to their location and pickup the phone yourself. 2) Rogers is launching the N8 within the next few weeks and SN Traders always makes sure that their price is lower than the no contract price of the carriers so I'd definitely wait to see how much Rogers is planning on selling this for (my guess would be in the $499-599 range) and see where SN Traders comes in.

I'm not sure about the battery... though I do have two email boxes syncing every 15mins for a good part of the day and have been using google maps too..

for those saying really good battery life, how much 3G data or even wifi are you using?

I have never dealt with SN Traders so i really can't say, if they are close to you and have a good warranty and have it in stock then i would prolly got with them as you can drive there look at it, make sure its not DOA before you leave the store. But if your worried about them then i def recommend Newegg.ca they really where great no complaints at all here :)

Note, I recharged the device with the 2mm connector.

I tried different methods, not sure if any had effect on it. I tried holding down the top button repeatedly for 8 seconds, and also tried the 3 button reset, as listed here:
http://mynokiablog.com/2010/10/12/how-to-hard-reset-your-nokia-n8/

I think, it's the power button on the bottom that has to be held for 8 seconds though, but it first booted up, with me pressing the top button.

I also tried plugging in the USB cord, which my Win7 computer recognized right away, and tried to install the driver, but failed to do so at the time, as it indicated it was disabled on something like that.

Just notice my device has powered off twice, as in shut down, and needed to be rebooted. Does not look good. Maybe it crashed, as I was looking at a huge HTML page in my yahoo mail. I should download that new Opera browser that was just released.

Since this thread has Canada in it's subject and you guys unlike Americans (or most Americans) understand hockey like us Swedes. Has anyone found that the NHL app is a bit screwed up when it comes to the division standings?

My phone will be on delivery tomorrow. w00t.
Anyone of you guys who ordered from Newegg got charged duties/customs at the door seeing how the item came from the USA?

My N8 arrived yesterday while I was at work. Fortunately the Mrs was home, so I asked her to charge it up. It's pleasantly small and light compared to my Treo 650. Quite happy with it so far. Installed Angry Birds Lite (to test the, um, processor speed), Ovi Maps 3.06 beta (works nicely, hasn't crashed, but the Update button/icon didn't appear at first), and a few other duds from the store. Am experimenting with the built-in PIM apps (Contacts, Calendar, etc), and working on migrating to it from the Treo.

terre08: haven't tried the NHL app yet, I'll give it a spin and let you know

Before you give up your Treo, understand that you CAN'T accept meeting requests with M4E on this phone :befuddled

Not quite sure what that's all about.. Perhaps saving this ground breaking feature for the E7

To those of you who shared your experiences with newegg.ca, Thank You! I ordered a black N8 from them after noticing that the price dropped to $499, seemingly overnight. Since they seem to be rather good about handling defective handsets, I'll take a chance with them. Hopefully there won't be any problems! Cheers!

Nope. They charged Canadian taxes so they must have some sort of arrangement with CBSA. It was as if the purchase were made in Canada. Very nice.

I've had this from them in the past too and I was a little anxious about it the first time but no need to be.
