Nokia N73 - Sony K800i -- Nokia E65 ?

Thats true. I live in Georgia and I use mostly 850 where I live so I try to wnsure that I get a phone that has 850. I just think you are asking for trouble if you dont get a phone with 850 because you may go on vacation somewhere that doesnt have 850. I just know I love my K790a.

I will admit, I was tempted by the K790. I believe I read the review from the first camera shoot out on gsmarena.com between it and the N73 and was really impressed by the images it produced. Hell, I'm sure the keypad and joystick were probably much better too. It came back to what was familiar being the strong point versus what's new and at the time I was buying, I didn't have time for something new.

What's different about the web browser in the K790?

I dont get the "page too large to display" error I got on the w810. It could be because it has 65mb of internal memory compared to 20mb the w810 had.

Is there a web page you would suggest I load up to test the browser, to see how it does? Another thing that sold me on the K790 was the Xenon flash, RSS and A2DP.

sorry, but i have to disagree...

most cellphone users don't even know that there is such a thing smartphone, dumb phone thing... you will be surprise, how people react when you present them with some smartphone applications... the thing is, smartphone is for everyone, either they are fully using its capabilities or not, it is just a matter of educating the user how to use it and if they can actually afford it or are willing to put that x amount of money for "just a phone"...

although some people will still use a "dumb" phone, just because they like the look of it or the simplicity of the menu system, or in your case the camera adn are happy with the java apps... but bottom line, smartphone is for everyone and it has gone mainstream and no longer just for the geeks and the tech savvy professionals...

and the gap between the dumb and smartphone is still wide and just got wider even, coz of N95...

There's no site necessarily that will render faster or better necessarily to test out either browser. I was simply making a comparison to the features of the built-in web browser on a s60v3 device versus on a SE. In my experience, there isn't a browser that works as well as the s60v3 browser on any phone, even IE for WM. It seems that all of the "web browsers" on SE, Samsung, s40 Nokia, and anything else you throw in the mix are all inferior to Opera Mini, which is almost insulting.

I agree completely...how can one even begin to think to compare E65/N73 with SE K800 ? I don't think you can work with office documents on K800, install dictionaries, weather forecasts, maps, trezor mobile, etc. etc, like you do on S60 phones . As for the camera options, N73 produces better photos than any dumbphone I've seen.

Smartphones arent for everyone. I've had 2 and the most common apps are being written in Java so dumbphones have narrowed the gap significantly the past 18 months or so. And overall, there isnt a camera phone probably in the world that is better than than the SE K790/800. Ok, maybe over in the Asian countries there may be some better, but none from Nokia. Only those that are hardcore Symbian users would regret getting a dumbphone.

Some very good points but I will disagree and say they aren't for everyone. Like my mother who is 65 and just wants a phone. Or other older men and women. All the apps I had on my Nokia's were cool and neat. But rarely used the majority of them. So I'm happy with my poor little k790. And like Jonny said, there is no better browser than opera mini. With Cingular having M2M unlimited msgs I dont even use IM anymore. I only use opera mini and google maps on a consistent basis now plus my push email. If the camera on the n73 was as good as what I have now I probably would've gotten it.

Just to be clear, I Opera Mini is better than the built-in browsers on MOST phones. The browser in s60v3 blows Opera Mini away, plus you can use the full version of Opera on s60 as well. Both of those browsers (and I can only guess the new integrated browser on FP1) are the best I've ever used.
