Nokia N73 can't disable UMTS?

The battery on the N73 will still last 2-3 days of moderate usage even with UMTS still enabled.



See, there's a problem with that too for the users who will buy the phone in the US and use the phone in a country outside of the US. Nokia can't disable it for those users when it says in the manual and on the box that the UMTS works in Europe. I honestly don't know how else they could've done it. The only way Nokia would officially have backed themselves into a corner is if they guaranteed the device would work for 36 hours straight, in which case the phone only lasted 35.5 due to UMTS constantly searching, but that's not the case.
 
Someone lied to you. I'm pretty sure it even says on the box that it has UMTS 2100.

What's funny is that it also has a reference note, 23, next to it, but the footnote is missing???

Edit: I don't even have a single foothold to argue against it not having UMTS. Their website is completely different from every spec sheet I've ever seen about the N73. It says it comes with an 820mAh battery with only 4 hours of talk time??? And you can BUY the 970mAh (also incorrect) battery for an ADDITIONAL $59.99???

Just buy it from X1387... it's worth it after what I just saw.
 
....of course most people that use it here and travel abroad are not going to sign up for a temporary 3g account in Europe are they? Like Olly said it should just be removed from the menu! Of course, the ultimate solution is to start giving the US some love. Obviously they are going to manufacture 850/1900 without Cingulars consent if the N95 rumor is true so just give us some GD love already.
 
I have no idea who x1387 is. if they are an ebay seller then no way I am doing that. If I do it, its gonna be with nokiausa.com and no one else.
 
No one's twisting your arm. You can buy from whoever you want. You're probably better off buying from Nokia directly anyway since you'll get your warranty, but after the specs I saw on their own website? I'm be a bit concerned. As long as you get the BP-6M and you won't miss the Euro 3G, it won't be a problem.
 
while I might miss BP-6M, I will really enjoy the flux hyperlink on the omega station that the n73 offers over all symbian mobile telecommunication devices...
