Nah that's not totally true. They want to still be high end with MeeGO.


I truly believe that they can be high range. We'll see how long iP4 users want to put up with their broken phones, and if Android users get sick of the OS since it's on virtually everything.


MeeGo definitely has potential, but Nokia is too busy being small time lately on their road to come back...
 
They have the *potential* to break back into the high end, but will they? That's if they can break away from building yet another C-series iteration of the two year old 5800, that is....

The next twelve months will definitely show the future for them---whether they can pull it out and come back, or whether they (silently) concede defeat and look to some kind of a corporate merger.
 
You mean shipping of N8? Possibly. Announcement of N9? No way. Sounds more like some service/messaging thing than a device (except for the word "box"). Perhaps downloadable movie and video content? Some new social networking/messaging app (as if we need more; stop being so ****ing social, people!).
 
What a snoozer, huh? This event for this phone might have made sense for Delhi, Jakarta, Manila, etc. but in New York and London? lol. A mid-tier S60 workhorse is nothing to get excited about in Western countries. The only event was the revelation that there would be a much bigger event in 2 weeks - N8?
 
Yeah, sometimes I think they should just can their entire marketing and promotions department. And while they're canning people throw in the guys from Comes With Music and the Ovi Store too.

As you guys said, the C6 is intended for emerging markets and budget users, so why make a big deal about it in the two biggest *Western* media markets? (Facepalm)
 
Probably some Conspiracy for Good nonsense? Maybe some new social media integration through Ovi? Don't expect any device announcements until Nokia world in September.
 
Sadly the biggest nokia news story that i found today was the 24 yr old guy in India who died when his nokia phone exploaded while he was talking on it. Hardly the pub that nokia needs right now.
 
The last build up from Nokia ended up being an S40 browser, so I'd expect another 'software service', likely Ovi branded, God help us all....
 
They don't go to these lengths for services. It will be some kind of device announcement, the last time they sent out mysterious invites like this it was for the announcement of the C3, C6 and E5. Lest we forget that the new devices at Nokia World 2009 (X6, N97 Mini, N900, Booklet 3G) were all officially announced in the weeks leading up to the event. It might not be anything groundbreaking or earth-shattering but it will probably be a device announcement.
 
Maybe its that E7/C7??? Either way i hope it has decent hardware like the N8, would be great if it was the Meego device. Then release it just befor Xmas time.
