Nokia E62: Configurations

Bleed for Me.

New member
I received a nokia e62 from a friend. the device is a Cingular and was supposed to be unlocked. I want to set it up with phone and email on Rogers but am have problems with the email and web. Cannot get a connection but the phone and everything else works fine.

any suggestions. Supposedly the device is unlocked but every time I power it up it asks for a Lock Code. i enter the code and the device works.

is there a simple way to eliminate the Cingular data and replace with Rogers. As you can see, I am a novice when it comes to these devices. Have always had a company Blackberry with an IT group to do the changes. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi, welcome to HoFo! The lock you're referring to is the user phone lock, rather than provider or SIM lock. You can check the details in Security settings. As for Rogers data service configurations, Use the Settings wizard in the Tool menu.

This thread is now moved to Series 60 Smartphone forum. There're more experts for this topic.

there's a walkthrough on my site, but it appears as though Nokia has updated their NSU to not allow you to re-apply a firmware (which was the loophole previously used), so as of now, you're stuck, unless they release an updated firmware. You're welcome to try it, though. I believe it's in my Nov archive.

Thanks

Just to be clear, i have put in a Rogers Sim. The phone works fine but cannot connect to email or the web. Going thru Settings etc it appears that you can delete or replace the original settings. I'm a rookie and really don't know how.

Even though the phone works, i'm not sure if the device is unlocked totally. I was assured that it was but may not be.

Any other suggestions?

Oh, yeah, as long as your SIM works, you can go into settings-connections-access points and delete all those. Then either go to the Settings Wizard in the tools folder and pull up Rogers, or you can go to Nokia's support pages (http://www.nokia.ca/english/support/setup.asp) and you can send the settings via SMS.

I can confirm that the loophole has been filled. It is still possible to unbrand using a hardware flasher as I was able to do for my friend.

Thanks

The loophole has been filed. How can you still do it with a hardware flasher? I am like everyone else. Aggrevated by the Cingular trash.

I did follow your suggestion and have downloaded a lot of Rogers data. But some of the cingular stuff still appears

I've done all suggested in the above strings. Now i have an issue where i can't get connected to the internet.

I have loaded the Rogers settings, everything shows up, but in the settings it shows that there are no active connection settings.

Any ideas. This device looks like it could be a good device, but right now it is a real pain.

Thanks
