*This review does not contain pics. But they will come asap. I will go into as much detail as I can.

First Impressions:

When I first picked up my Nokia E60 late last week, it looked a little bit bigger in person than in reviews by GSMarena, but its a good size. It feels good when held in hand during phone calls.

The phone looks very professional. A silver metallic plate outlines the screen, and the keypad, somewhat like the Nokia N70 giving it that "classy" look. The phone feels very solid, no creaks whatsoever. Keypad lighting is more than sufficient and only comes on when needed, due to the light sensor just above the earpiece. (this sensor also controls screen brightness) There are clear pieces between the keys that also provide additional lighting, and they also give a nice look to the phone when the keypad lights up. (Again, pics will be posted at a later date)

Display:

One word. AMAZING. The screen resolution is the same as the Nokia N80.

Menu speed & navigation:

I have to say, the E60 has great menu speed. I dont find any lag at all browsing the menu. The joystick is very easy to use and is very responsive.
I also like how the menu button is right below the joystick. Others may not like this, but this is personal preference.

Connectivity:

No problems at all when connecting to Nokia PC suite.

The Wifi connection is very good. You can set the phone to search for a connection every 5 minutes, 10 minutes, etc, but this will surely drain the battery faster. When connected to wifi, browsing is very easy due to the joystick. (My only gripe would be that when typing in passwords to sites that you're a member of, the T9 is not enabled, but only enabled when entering your username or typing on forums, msn etc.)

Typing is not a big deal for me when browsing the net, due to the fact that I've become quite a fast typer with the T9 predictive text. Others would probably prefer the full qwerty keyboard on the E61.

I still have yet to test the bluetooth connectivity option.

Overall Performance:

Reception wise, I have experienced no problems whatsoever. But what do you expect? Its a nokia
The handset is only triband, no 850. In my area that is no problem. I get great reception wherever I go. (Again, some may prefer the 850 quadband on the E61) Call quality is great as with every other Nokia I've owned.

Thats all I can think of writing for now, any other E60 users feel free to add

this mini reveiw has swayed me so for in getting this instead of an e61..hows the form compared to a 6230 measuements say its thinner...thinner is good !

thanks for the quick review...cant wait for pics i think this is swaying me towards the e60 instead of the e61 as i have no need for the qwerty keyboard!

the e60 is a tad bit thinner than the 6230 (according to GSMArena.) Until i can find a friend who has a 6230, I cant personally say how much thinner it is.

I will try my best to get some pics up tonight =)

If there is anything else you would like to know feel free to ask, and I will do my best to answer your questions

battery life is great
i have calls here n there during the day, at least 10-20 txt messages a day
and wifi sessions ranging from 20 mins+

and at the end of the day my battery usually only drops 1 bar, sometimes 2

Had mine about 3 weeks now a replacment for the good old 6230.

Size wise its thinner than a 6230 but wider and slighty longer the weight you can notice it after having a 6230. But for all the new goodies you get its worth it.

Setting wlan was pretty easy just going to settings connection etc and inputting my wep key. All up and running in 5 mins without using the manual

The big thing for me on this phone is the screen quality and the new browser which also let you use the central controller as a mouse.

Battery life is ok unless you plan to be using wifi alot and then you will only get one day from it.

Now the apps

Realpayer which comes installed is very good once you get used to it. I like to use the bbc radio listen again feature which I found does work if you click use stand-alone player this also works watching videos on bbc if you use min bitrate setting. Once you have got it working you can bookmark these streams which then show up in the gallery under streams. This makes it nice and easy to just start you fav radio shows with just one click

Next I made sample videos to try out I wanted to get the best quality picture possible that the E60 cpu could handle. So I started with a 1080i hd sample from microsoft. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/musicandvideo/hdvideo/contentshowcase.aspx

I used the stormchaser sample 93mb 1:31 which I tried with a few apps but so far Super encoder seems to be best 3gp2 mp4 I got down to 8mb
Great wow factor to show your mates. Ps if anyone can tell me THE best quality you can go on the E60 before the screen starts skipping let me know.

Next I loaded up Nokia's internet radio app this I could only get to load via the usb cable. Nokia have bookmarked about 10 station for you which all worked first time but they is no way to search for new new stations yet.

Podcast by nokia is also very cool works in the same way as itunes it lets you search for podcast then subscribe and download which ones you want. Only thing I found was the search engine was usa based so it could not find the top 10 uk free podcast. But it will let you input url if you know the address this I tried with Uk No1 Baddiel and Skinner podcast which it found and worked first time. http://podcast.timesonline.co.uk/rss/baddielandskinnerpodcastmp3.rss.

Other cools things are having your last 2 sms on the main screen, worldmate app which is free for 3 years and the golf pro 2 game from nokia.

Now I just waiting for Tomtom to release an update and find a reliable 2gb rs dv mmc card

Question how "loud" or "audible" is the keypad when you are text messaging? My 7610 has very audible clicking sound when I text message. And it particularly sucks to try to text message while in the middle of meetings and/or church

I was going to get a Razr/Pebl/or L7 just because the keypad is so quiet. So if you can answer this very trivial thing for me, it would be of much help!

Thank you for the mini review. I am definitely swayed toward this phone.

You'd definitely be doing yourself wrong by going with an L7 :P

There is a slight click. I've never heard the click of the 7610, so I cant comment on the comparison of the sound. But I would say its pretty quiet.

no, its not quadband. The e61 is quadband with a full qwerty keyboard.
I use agile messenger on my E60 wherever there's a hotspot
works great

Don't forget the VoIP functionality, which works great (using pbxes). At home and at public hotspots I only call through the internet, and the quality is amazing. Just called yesterday an hour from Moscow to Germany for 50 cents!

This is the best phone I ever had!

I just got my E60 and its the best phone I've ever owned!! This is supposed to be my business phone but i find myself using it more and more.
