Nokia E50-1 problems?

Hi. I have an Nokia E50 from Hong Kong and I put in a 1GB MicroSD card into my phone. I set it so that all my text messages are saved on to the memory card, but sometimes when the messages hit around 70 - 80, the phone gives me an error, something along the lines of 'memory full please close some applications and try again'. The thing is, I have no other programs open and no matter what button I press that pops up. I have to turn off and then turn on the phone to get it to work again. Does anyone know why this happens? And also does anyone know why turning off the phone takes such a long time, as well as turning it back on?

Thank you,
Daniel

The messages on memory card is known sometimes to cause problems in symbian phones. e50 anyway has large enough memory - just leave it on phone memory?

Symbian phones always take long to boot/re-boot. There is no point in switching on/off symbian phone, it takes time and also consumes a lot of power. Just leave it on in silent mode, if you do not want to be disturbed.

Hi. Hm I guess that's true. I'll put my text messages on the phone memory. And yeah I turn off and on the phone is because I get that error messages and I can't do anything to the phone after I get it. I cannot even get into my 'contacts', so I turn it off and on.

Oh yeah just remembered another question is why when I use the option to 'Lock Phone' or when I turn off and on the phone I get the logo that I have a voice message, even though I don't?

That type of memory error means operational RAM (which is about 12-14meg after boot), not storage memory. It sounds like something is going whacko, given your vmail indicator problem as well. Did you do a hard reset on the phone when you first got it? If not, it may just fix your problems...

Hard reset code: *#7370#

Yes, it will wipe your phone (hence 'hard'). You could back up your phone memory to the microSD card (use the Memory app), and then restore it after the hard reset -- this is what you're supposed to do when you firmware upgrade.

However, when you're having a problem like yours, it's possible (I can't say how probable, only that it's possible) that restoring phone memory from a backup may also bring back the problem; it's hard to say, the only thing you can do is try.

Personally I'd just make sure everything was off the phone through some backup means (I only care about my contacts and calendar, the rest is cannon fodder to me) and start over with a clean hard reset. You can sync back the contacts and calendar without problems, but I don't know about SMS - never messed with it.

Should I remove my memory card from the phone?
Also is there a password I have to enter after it putting in the code? 0000? 1234?
I don't really care about anything because most of the pictures and songs are on my memory card and the contacts are on the SIM so I can always just transfer it back over.
