Hey ya'll!
I'm trying to decide between the Nokia 5500 and the Sony Ericsson W710i but I'd really like some input first if someone could help. From what I can see both of these phones are "sports" phones (and musice/etc. phones) and that's what I want. I am into fitness and I'd like to keep track of exercise but I'd also like to find a diet/calorie counting application to install on it so I can keep track of my diet as well. Just wondering if anyone out there has one of these phones and use it for diet/fitness with diet programs. I can't decide which phone would work best for me.
Anyone have any suggestions?? I'm ready to purchase right now but I can't decide!

I have had the 5500 for about 6 months now and really like the phone. Very solid and very durable. The fitness function is very well thought out too. You have one button on the right side of the phone that lets you switch between phone, music and fitness and the direction pad changes color for those options.

The accelerometer seems fairly accurate on runs when I keep the phone in my chest pocket. The included holster is crap in my opinion unless you have a really stiff waist band on your pants/shorts. It kept falling off my shorts, but at least I know the phone can take a knock. You can set the phone so an automated voice gives you updates on speed, distance and time every few minutes too which is quite handy.

At the end of your runs you also get a nice graph of your running speed vs time. You can sync this up to Nokia's activity software, but I haven't used that as I own a mac and Nokia doesn't support mac.

If you're looking to run additional software on your phone I think its a plus that it runs S60 v3 so you can probably find more programs for it.

The included remote is fantastic, nice rubberized with a strong clip. the included headphones are very uncomfortable.

I'm probably going to move on to a new phone shortly because the key pad (which is one big rubber covering) has come loose from the phone so now I have a big air bubble under all of the keys and I can easily peel the number pad right up to the screen. Basically ruined the phone for me. And since its not covered through nokia Canada, I don't think I can get it fixed.

Personally I would go for the W710i in terms of form factor, but for the actual fitness software and the phone capabilities I'd pick the 5500.
