nokia 2720 fold - won't turn on!!!!?

I have a nokia 2720 fold and the puk number was entered too many times and it became locked...I bought a new $2 sim for the phone and it has been plugged into the charger for hours and hours. I put in the new sim but it won't turn on! There is no recognition by the phone to say that the charger is plugged in either.
I have tried removing the battery but still nothing..
please help!!!!
