No students showed up to the Mirwais Mena girls' school today, following attacks in Kandahar in which men on motorcycles attacked 15 girls and teachers by spraying them with battery acid. The school's principal says he believes there were multiple teams of attackers because the attacks took place at the same time in different neighborhoods. Girls were not allowed to be educated under Taliban rule, but today 2 million girls attend school. Last year there were 236 school-related attacks in Afghanistan, according to UNICEF. [NY Times]
