no spark on Chevy 4 cilinder boat moter what should i check?

How do U know if the coil is good if no spark. Check voltage at the coil power + with wire off 9 volts non resistor coil purple wire.12 Volt resistor coil. If points check the point of carbon replace condincer also.Disconnect the tack lead Gray wire and check for spark. If points closed with key on and voltage at the coil open and close the points and see if they spark if not replace them.
