No sound from PC!! Pls Help!!?

my speakers are plugged to the computer but when i go to control panel and check the sound menu, it says that there is no audio device. i also checked with my brothers speakers, which are working with him, but not with me. pls help!! do i need to download anything???
how do i install the audio device? the speakers were given to me...do speakers have cds too??

i'm not really into technical stuff...which is why panicked right away... ><
 
Reinstall your sound driver.
To do this pop in your motherboard CD and run the Auto-Setup, let em do the job and you're actually done.

Don't forget to check your cables
