First off, I'm 24 and the guy I'm talking about is 27. We've been hanging out, going on a few dates here and there for close to 3 months now. When things first started to get physical, I told him that I wouldn't sleep with someone I wasn't dating...and especially with him because I had the feeling he slept around. He respected that and never brought it up since. Since then, I've been hanging around with his friends, who all refer to me as his girl, which leads me to believe he's not off fooling around with other women.
I've grown to really like him and trust him, and brought up having sex the other night. He denied me and reiterated that I don't do that with people I'm not dating, that sex complicates things and he really likes what we have now and hanging out with me. I told him the dating thing didn't matter and that I just really wanted to. He confessed that at the beginning, I'd probably just be another random girl but that I've started to grow on him and he really likes hanging around me. I made a joke about how he's scared I just won't be good and he replied "no I'm sure you'll be amazing".
I'm just confused because for a 27 y/o guy to simply plan on hanging out with someone without taking it to the next step seems weird, especially knowing that he is a sexual person. Is he not doing it because he thinks I'll think we're in a relationship then? But don't you think I would've brought that up by now then? Or is he truly just respecting me and wants to take it slow as to not ruin things? Ideas?? Opinions?
