No Sat connection with old RCA TV

Hi. Got my new 9200 hooked up to the TV downstairs and the small 20" SD
RCA in the bedroom. It has no signal from the reciever! I hooked up the main TV to the second tuner just to check and it worked fine so I know it's the RCA TV.
Anyone have this issue? I tried the autoprogramming on it as well as everything else I could think of. Please advise if possible.

First thing to verify is that the cable has continuity, if the coax is bad, that would fully explain the problem.

Also, what channel does it appear on, with the main TV, see if it is on the same upstairs.

As you are only playing with a 20" TV, I would bring it to the 9200 to play around.
 
If you are using the modulated output the TV needs to be set on the channel and AIR or CATV. Go into the modulated set up screen and change it to the opposite of what you have now. Set the RCA tv to the channel and it should work.
 
OK! I've got the signal to the TV but its fuzzy. I can see the guide etc and have control just the picture isn't very clear. I have the tvs side by side now and have been selecting different channels on the modulator setup screen of TV 1.

Guess I have to try them all or could it be something else?

If it is old TV you may need to route it through a VCR first. With one of my TV's I had to.

I thought it was because of amplification but someone else suggested it may be because the tv accepts 300 ohms and can not accept 75 ohms directly. You can try a 300 ohm to 75 ohm converter if you have one or just use a VCR. Then connect the VCR to the TV.

I also had an old RCA hooked up to my 9200. I was using channel 59 AIR and the picture was fuzzy as well. Not sure exactly why. I used to have a 4700 hooked up in the same manner but it outputs on channel 3. Picture was crystal clear. Took me a while to figure out what was happening. I was checking all my connections before I finally brought another TV into the room. It was crystal clear so I knew it was the 9200 and not the TV.

There was most likely nothing wrong with your TV or 9200. The modulated output works in a different range than output on channel 3 or 4. If the 6100 had a modulated output in the higher channel range it would have had the same result as the 9200.

I won't disagree but the TV has a 75 ohm input and when it was fed cablevision directly, the picture was crystal clear. As far as I know, cablevision is a 75 ohm connection.

I was under the impression the 9200 outputed a weaker signal that the older TV had trouble displaying where newer television has a more sensitive tuner so it could process the weaker signal.

Not a big deal since I'm not using the old TV any more.

Actually the modulated output is very strong. Try outputting channel 3 or 4 from a device over 100 ft.

I ended up connecting the cable to the 2 screws above the connection on the TV. This works great with a clear picture. Is that the 300 ohm connection on these older TVs?

yes if you connected it the little round cyclinder type object that is the 75 ohm to 300 ohm converter. Good to see it working.
