No Retreat, No Surrender

A extremely cheesy eighties rip off of Karate Kid which contains bad acting, a soundtrack stacked with prog rock, a ghost Bruce Lee, loaRAB of 80's cliches(e.g. plucky beaten down hero, Micheal Jackson wannabe best mate, invincible villain, wronged and beaten up dad, girl next door girlfriend for main character) and an acting debut for Jean Claude Van Damme. NRNS has a reputation of being utter garbage but I've rewatched this film recently and have to say I unshamedly like it. Not a masterpiece but a very fun feelgood film which is classic eighties viewing.

Anyone else see this film or remember it from the eighties because it does seem to be forgotten when well known eighties films are discussed(lets face it most of them have dated badly)?

I actually own this film and the sequel on VHS.
I must admit I prefer the second film, it looked like it actually had a budget and the fight scenes were better.
It had Cynthia Rothrock in one of her early film roles :D

:eek: :D

I've never see the sequels but that takes some beating. A classic way to go. Strangulation, eaten by crocs, smashed on the head by a jeep and then gunfire to blow up the jeep. Hilarious.

I've never seen "No Retreat, No Surrrender 3" -- but as a teenager, I always wanted too -- I think it was the tagline that hooked me the most;

Though, seeing clips on Youtube it strikes me that it is very similar to the Double Dragon arcade video game... though, I may see the movie one day...
