I'm very overweight. About 30kg (65 pounds) of extra fat. I really want to lose weight. Now my main short term motivation for working out is the feeling after. I really LOVE the pump I get when I exercise, its what makes me want to work out next time. But what happens is for the first week, I get a great satisfying workout. My muscles feel stimulated and strong.
Next week I can't to lift anymore weight or do more reps than last week. So I do my workout to failure the same as last time. My feet hurt after the walk just the same. The bike ride uphill is just as hard. Yet I get no pump. at all. It feels like I've achieved nothing.
After about 3 weeks I STILL can't do anymore reps or weight. I don't get that burst of energy after my bike ride or walk. In fact unlike the first week I feel just as tired as before I started working out. Working out begins to seem pointless and soon enough I stop.
My first question is, When you workout should you always feel pumped after? Or am I expecting something thats not going to happen?
Second, What is a realistic amount of time before the amount of weight you can do should increase. Am I expecting too much to gain ANY strength after 3 weeks.
Thanks!
