OK, im 17 i live in CA and i cant seem to get a job. No one hires it seems i need a job so i can drive and have money n stuff but for sum reason i cant seem to find a job. Anyone got any kind of knowledge on how to get a job? im just tryin to find a job at like fast food or sum kind of little store.

Try a temp agency!! Alot of time they will place you cause you are young and generally work cheaper than the seasoned veteran. That's how my girlie found her job with this mortgage company she works with! If you pick it up quickly more than not they will keep you on and they pay better than flippin burgers! Most of the jobs are data entry and they are always lookin for fresh meat!

Also, you could try going for jobs that it seems no one else wants. I was immediately hired for the job I have now (maid in a geriatric center), without even an interview, because they needed to fill up the available spots and very few people were applying. Also, it pays pretty well...about $3 over PA minimum wage.

Just a suggestion. The temp agency sounds like it would be good, too.

If you know how type a letter and use mail merge to insert the employers name and print them all of. You can do a large number applications in a very short amount of time.

That's a scary thought...

Gunny, if you can't find an employeed job, do odd jobs (mowing, pressure washing, etc). Personally I didn't feel like working for someone this summer so I started a business. If you have the time and patience, it'll work.

At 17 nobody in their right mind will let him touch any hardware or software. At best, he'll end up making coffee or cleaning the shop.

Probably the best kind of job for him to look for is a restaurant job, not fast food, but a regular restaurant. Fast food is the lowliest jobs available out there.
 :frown:

One thing that nobody else has hit on: there is a shortage of summer work this year. Everyone is saying something like 42% of all highschool students who are LOOKING for work will go unemployed for now. Mainly because of the competition from people that are just trying to make the ends meet in the current economy.

I sort of hit on that by telling him to try to go for stuff that normally wouldn't get competition. EVERYONE is applying for fast food, grocery stores, etc. Hardly anybody is applying for janitorial work.
