No one cares about government "regulation" into business?

At least, so they say, because it is needed and the companies are scuzzy, etc. Same with capping CEO's pay. But what about when it's not just "shady" companies or "greedy" CEOs? What about when it's everyone? What about when it's not just some nameless CEO in Big Business? What about when it's your neighbor who owns a business? Or your parents. Or you? Will you still be OK with it?
Dude, I am not a NeoCon. I'm not a Liberal, Conservative, Democrat OR Republican. You're saying that ONLY NeoCons care about government interference into business? Careful with that. Gonna make you look bad in 2 years or less when this country is totally f_cked up and you guys are screaming you were against it from the beginning.
I can't believe some of the sh!t you people are saying. To a man (or a woman, as it were) none of you seem to think it is that big of a deal. Perhaps that is because it hasn't affected your daily life yet. When it does, we will see. I am APALLED at the disease of short-sightedness that has infected this country. And no one has answered my question.

Regulation is silly because it is purely reactionary. As far as working in safe and healthy conditions, isn't that what unions are supposed help people with? What are all these unions and political organizations doing if we already have all these "great" regulations protecting us?

if it stops unsafe products it is good
if it stops unsafe work places it is good

oh, and our current economic mess was made possible by DEREGULATION!

People don't seem to understand that big government and big corporations go hand in hand. Big corporations can afford to comply with endless regulations and pass the costs on to customers later. Sole proprietors and smaller business are driven out of business, allowing big companies to charge more. Excessive regulation also allows for selective enforcement - much potential for bribery and lobbying of politicians (same thing, really). Even worse than regulation is the litigation hazard. The expense can destroy small business's, even if they've done nothing very wrong and win the case.

People who think more regulation is needed, and also hate big corporations have got their heads up their asses big time. Way stupid. Perfectionists should pay double for their stupidity. Without the armies of lawyers looking for a case, all prices would be much lower. It's not just the huge sums of money they take (1/3rd if the plaintiff wins, big money on defense, too) - the major cost is from everybody being chickenshit, lest they get sued.

Example: gynecologists. John edwards made big bucks by blaming birth defects (cerebral palsy?) on them. So there's fewer gynecologists, especially in so. carolina, and many insist on c -sections, to cover their asses. Later studies showed no link between cerebral palsy and natural childbirth. Disgusting. Why would anyone be a doctor with scum like that preying on them?
