No More Hellboy?

In a Radio 5 interview with Simon Mayo today, director Guillermo Del Toro has said Ron Perlman will not make another Hellboy unless the makeup is much lighter for him to wear, so Del Toro says he will probably not make another Hellboy movie (plus by the time he gets to make it Ron will be probably in his mid 60's).

Shame, would have been fun but I have an awful feeling that he may go the way of Tim Burton in that he may over use his original film making style and we end up getting bored with it.

That would be a shame, the first two were great, and they said they had planned it to be a trilogy.

And if the movie was made to be released in 2012 like they discussed on the DVD extras, Ron Pearlman's age would possibly prove to be a problem.

That said, Ron Pearlman is Hellboy now, no one else can feel those boots. No Ron, No Hellboy, fair enough.

I don't think it was too formulaic. And come on, it's Hellboy, he was hardly gonna keep the more subtle tone of Pan's Labyrinth, you need BIG and CGI with Hellboy. Hellboy 2 was worth it if only for the troll market scene and the huge tree and rock creatures. I would really love to see del Toro take on something like Neverending Story (which IS being made, but there's zero chance of him directing it) or a huge dark fantasy. He's planning on doing a H.P. Lovecraft film sometime after The Hobbit which will be great.
