Hi! I didnt read through all of the replies to this thread but I found that the network your Pearl connects to either gps, gprs or edge. For it to be able to MMS or browse the internet it has to read GPRS or EGDE (in caps) that is what the manual said as well as my provider. Consider that information and see if you can get your phone or provider to default your network connection to either of those connecitions

Is there anyway to get something similiar to the free T-Mo Blackberry Feature Enabler for my pearl w/ At&t/Cingular service. I have the full unlimited messageing service (unlimited text and multi-media) but I can't send MMS pictures messages without the full data plan. Very Frustrating.

If there isnt anything like the feature enabler for ATT, does anybody know if they are working on something.

I swear those AT&T retail stores lie to you with their phones and plans. I'm paying for unlimited messaging but after they have your credit card they say "oh oh, except for the phone you just bought, that's $30 extra."

The question is better directed in the AT&T forum. This is the T-Mobile forum so you have a less likely chance of finding the answer here.

That means it costs at least $50 for unlimited picture messaging. Gee, I feel a little taken advantage of.

no, there is no way...att has two plans and two plans only.
you should call ATT back tho, i have unlimited sms and mms for $20 a month...

if you need further assistance, try the ATT forum
you won't get much help here bc these folks are tmo and they have no clue about the pricing structure plenty of ATT reps browsing the ATT forum too, to help you

That's really odd, because I just recently changed my plan, but my last plan was 300 myFaves with "Any 1000 Domestic Messages" and I checked my plan on mytmobile.com and it said I had 879 text messages left and 1000 picture messages left, so I went into my Pearl and clicked the "Compose" icon and the menu included "Call___," "SMS text___," and "MMS___" so I MMS my friend a picture to test it out. She recieve it, I logged into my mytmobile.com and checked my plan and it said i had 879 text messages left and 999 picture messages left.

So, it worked for me and I didn't even have unlimited at that point.
And on the services page it says "Note: All our domestic messaging bundles include text, IM, picture, or video messages--the choice is up to you."
I don't know why it would work for me and not for other Pearl users...that's odd.
I have the data plan now, so I can't really test it again,...lol

but do you have a blackberry w/o a data plan?
I have that same $20/mo plan and everything worked great with my old phone.
Now i have a blackberry pearl and they're telling me that in order to use mms on smartphones, i need a data plan in order to take advantage of my mms messaging (pictures).

have you gotten the issue resolved, pin me your cellphone number and i'll fix you up. T-mobile offers a blackberry add-on at no cost, and it allows you to have access to instant messenger and to mms with out having the data plan. All data devices that we carry mms is something thats part of the data plan. if you were to get the curve sidekick, wing dash etc, and i think thats the same way for all companies but t-mobile has a few options they have the
20$ unlimited email and web
20$ unlimited email and text
10$ email only
0$ blackberry voice add on

fyi...if you've updated to the latest t-mobile OS (.107) you shouldn't have these issues also t-mobile has just joined the rest of the cellular companies f you get a blackberry on an upgrade or new activation you have to activate some sort of data plan on it to get your mail in rebate back.

ps- i didnt realize there was a second page to this ...lol

Im planning to sign on to TMobile later on next week. I would not add a Blackberry Plan/Internet, but rather the Unlimited Text Message option. If I were to purchase a BlackBerry, instant messaging and mms, wouldnt work right out of the box?

if you add it without the data plan, you have to be sure they add the free BB add-on, that will allo you to do the mms and all

call: 1-800-937-8997 from a landline. Do not call from your phone, cause they will need to have you trouble shoot, including taking battery out and such. T-mobile Customer Support is the best. Trust me. Just be nice yourself.

When you get T-mobile support, ask "Can I please be transfered to Blackberry Customer Support"

When you get the nice person on the other end of hte phone, explain that your MMS isn't working...and tell them that you don't have a BB data plan.

BB's are the nicest phones out there even if you don't use BB data. Thou I love that feature, and beable to get my e-mail instant to my phone, and the price isn't bad as well, it isn't for everybody.

I have the same problem on my 8130 from Sprint. I have unlimited internet, text messages, etc, but no MMS. I called and was told that you can't get it with the blackberry service plan. They said i can always email the media, but that only goes to other email accounts...not phones. Does that sound right?
thx
