No, I don't need a new line of service, stop asking.

The text spam from Cricket is getting on my nerves. I almost replied to 555-5 with STOP or QUIT, but I'm not sure it wouldn't cancel my account

Is there something we can do about the spam?

There's an option on Cricket's website that lets you opt out of this.

You have to log in on the website (http://mycricket.com) and once you log in on the right hand side look for "My Communication Preferences". Once you're there just uncheck "Yes, please send me special offers and updates from Cricket via Text Messaging." and you won't get those texts anymore.

Hope that helps.

I wish it were that simple. I have done this multiple times and it doesn't work. I have called them directly and they said I will not receive anymore texts, but I still do.

I get alot of them....enough to where its more just a quick glance and ignore....but i certainly will be clicking hte little box in my account settings!

Thanks!

5 a week! I'd hate that! I mean, I don't really mind the advertisements or promotions, it would just bother me if they came at the wrong time. It would be more convenient if they emailed them instead. That way you wouldn't get texts when you don't want to.

cricket has many marketing campaigns...the most common/frequent one is the "activate any used phone..." ********

just reply to the message with the word "unsubscribe" and you will be removed from that marketing campaign

i was annoyed last week when i got 3 promotional texts in a single day...i just tried that and they responded with the message saying i had been removed from the campaign

i assume it is just from that particular campaign, but i have not received a promo text since then

That would annoy me greatly, especially if I had to pay for every text message they sent me!

Luckily for me, the only thing I'm considering getting with Cricket is a USB data card, so my laptop can enjoy some 3G goodness for a lot less than what the other carriers charge!

Hopefully that means I won't get any spam texts... especially since I now have no intention of giving them my cell phone nuraber that I have with T-Mobile. *crosses fingers & toes*

3 a day would be pleasant at times.. they were moving stores around here in boise, and had a BUNCH of grand openings and closings.. there was a week period where we ended up recieving about 10-12 texts a day from cricket.. thats how I found out about the Opt out.. heh
