No good deed goes unpunished

On my way to work tonight I pulled over to help a couple stranded on the side of the road. It didn't take long, they just needed a quick jumpstart, took no longer than 5 minutes. It was going to make me a few minutes late to work but I didn't mind, I've been in that situation before and it sucks when nobody stops to help.

Well, I got their car jump started... then I proceeded to hit a guard rail and tear a good sized gash in my bumper when I tried to pull back into traffic

Way to fuck up, karma.

perhaps its to remind you of the one time you didnt stop... i know i dont always stop to help out. Most of the time i wont stop if there are multiple vehicles or unless i have my tools with me. Sometimes its something i can fix without tools, like a loose throttle cable, a jump or a ride for gas which is cool.

but sometimes i feel an ass when i pull over and its something like... my belt slipped off and im sitting there with no tools going... "man if only brought my tools i could have fixed this" the whold time the other person is probably thinking "well why did you stop then asshole"

Another time i stopped to help two gangster looking dudes who were trying to change a tire but the jack fell down with the tire off... they thought i was stupid when i told them that the three of us could lift the rear of the car and get the jack out colapse it and put it in right. there was the smell of the mary jane all around which was cool with me... untill we were nearly done and a cop pulled up to assist... i said "sorry guys i dont have a problem with smoke, but im sure that guy does." then i casually slipped off. Good times.

Sorry about your car man.

yes but it seems you weren't punished perse' as much as you done fucked up the end game..

but yah that sucks when you feel all good bout yourself for helping someone, only to have it screwed up for you.. least your boss didn't fire you for being 5 minutes late, not caring it was cause you were helping someone..

I almost wrecked my car last night. Scary as fuck.

I was going too fast, at night, on a residential street. The road turned sharply and I couldn't keep up. I'm never going fast in an unfamiliar area again.

Maybe it was karma's way of telling you, "Hey, don't you realize that nowadays it wouldn't be completely out of the question for those people to field dress you like a game animal and then wear your dead carcass around their trailer home like a bath robe."

Seriously, stopping on the side of the road to help complete strangers is just inviting trouble.

In this case, screw the golden rule of doing onto others as you want done on to you. I don't want to catch a tire iron to the back of the head while I'm connecting the jumper cables to some "stranded motorist's" battery.

If they really need help let them call AAA.

Unfortunately, I take ^ this guy's line of thought.

It's sad, but in a town where I used to live a fellow pulled over to help someone stranded, only to be clubbed over the head just like so and have the so-called stranded motorist drive off in his car instead.

Plus, everybody's got cell phones now and there is pretty much always a damn gas station within walking distance.

I locked myself out of my car on University Drive last Friday, while it was running. My cell phone was out of service, it was snowing, and I locked my jacket in the car. 22 Cars drove by before one finally stopped. If it hadn't of been for those guys giving me a lift home and back to get a spare key, I probably would have been standing outside in the snow, jacketless, all night.
