I just bought a new 27 X 1 1/4 tire made by Bell to fit my road bike rim of the same size. (ive never put on a brand new tire before, only used ones that already have the shape/form). i unfolded the new tire and the whole thing seemed 'flat' so i started to bend it to help it form the proper shape. it looks a little better, but the tire is too flat still and the bead not stiff enough. i can pretty much set the rim in with not effort and theres no way that the bead would stay behind the rim wall. is this just a defective product? or do i need to 'encourage' the tire to take more form? or did i just buy a really crappy tire? i had to go to walmart instead of my local bike shop because it was the only place open late at night and this was the only time i had to work on the tire/wheel. i still have the receipt and almost just want to return it and wait until i can go to a place with quality tires. any advice/tips?
No form on new bicycle tire? defective?
