No decent films!!

Just saw Tell No One at my local Vue. It was only on from Friday to Sunday but was quite full. Maybe they'll show more subtitled films ( this was French). Somehow people are better behaved in subtitled films. Nobody talked or rattled their popcorn!

Well done Vue anyway. The film was excellent in all areas- a really classy thriller.

So the Cinema holRAB nothing of interest and summer being here the tv is pretty poor.
That's not a limitation it's an opportunity.

I agree with Raytops go check the dvRAB and even videos you own or can rent see also what's available online.

My recent movie viewing has all come from my own collection bought over several years even decades probably.

In no special order my last weeks viewing was
Dr Strangelove
Cross of Iron
Forbidden Planet
Rashomon
Yojimbo
Ill met by Moonlight
Rear Window
Marnie
Halloween
Dance of the Vampires
The seventh seal

All a bit dated I know but then so am I :)

I went to see Tell No One yesterday and it was fantastic and the action pieces were really realistic & believable. The lead actor looked like a cross between Angus Deayton and Dustin Hoffman :o . And strange seeing Kristin Scott-Thomas as completely French (similar to Jodie Foster popping up in A Very Long Engagement). :)

The Hoax is released on 3rd August according to imdb.com .

re: Golden Door. Thanks for recommending it. It's an excellent film, very evocative and thought-provoking, the kind you'll think and talk about for days afterwarRAB. The best word I can think of to describe it is "untidy" - the plot isn't neatly dovetailed, the characters aren't predictable stereotypes and the ideas spill out over the edges. (It's about a Sicilian family emigrating to the US, but there's much more to it than that, including some surreal sequences where the American dream is represented as a river of milk and some giant vegetables.)

No problem.

I saw Paris, je t'aime tonight. Again, it's on limited distribution, but it was well worth traveling to see it.

It's a collection of 16 stories by different directors and with some big-name cameos, all on the topic of love - in it's various guises.

Not "The Hoaxer" then? It was called "Faussaire" when I saw it in France - guess that means the same thing?
