No book, No Morality v.s a book and morality but forgiveness?

okay so christians believe so dearly that atheist have no rules to live by
so to christians we do bad things regaurdless

christians have rules to live by....and if they break them then they are forgiven...

so whats the point of having spiritual rules to live by if they are all forgiven?

because i read that alot of christians do bad things against god and wonder if they can be forgiven. and a christian replies that they are.

but if you know for a fact that you are doing something wrong then why do it in he first place? other wise you are not truely sorry, because if you were then you wouldn't have done that wrong in the first place. so you meant to do it.

i can understand that if "god" would forgive someone for doing something that they truly did not know was wrong... but anything???

so to be forgiven for every wrong would mean you are like an atheist with no rules.... you basically follow your own rules and then sometimes pray to feel guilt-free to go off and sin again

$hristianity: the belief that it is more moral to murder and then ask an imaginery friend for forgiveness than it is to never act immorally and not believe in god.

It gives them assurance.
It makes them feel as though there's a father-like being who will love them no matter what.

Atheists take full responsibility for their actions.

I think you're incorrect in your first assumption.

Clearly we all have moral values, and these have nothing to do with religious belief. If you study the people groups and cultures throughout history, you'll find a surprising harmony among their moral beliefs.

Rape, incest, child abuse and other such things are considered wrong. Selflessness, self-sacrifice and the like are always considered to be good.

But that's not bad news for religion; it's bad news for atheism.

That's because we're clearly built with a standard of right and wrong that defies other explanations. Culture is shared, and can be claimed to have evolved. Family organization, social structures, gender roles, age-related activities -- all can be found to tie in to a local people group. But not morality. It transcends each of these.

Herd instinct doesn't explain it. Evolution doesn't explain it. Social conditioning doesn't explain it.

Objective moral values cannot exist without a God.
