Does anybody else have a problem with no audio on quite a few channels. I watched the NFL pregame shows with no problem but, I have had no audio on any of the Hi Def channels since. I do have audio on some standard def channels such as CNN.

What model of receivers do you have? Ausio issues qre very common on the 4100... Just press the power button on the receiver for about 30 seconds and wait until it powers back by itself the next time. It should fix your issue. If not unplug and replug the power cord

I'm guessing he has a 6100, 9200 or a 9242, as its only the HD channels giving him issues
If you have problems again, also try taking out the smart card, and reinserting it:confused:

And how do you expect him to do that?

You just said that he probably has an HD receiver, 6100, 9200 or 9242...those receivers don't have a smart card!

Sorry Agent but almost every 6100 & 9200 for the last Year I was dealing with Express Vu HAD cards, they were ALL refurbished ones.

For the Record, 9242's are now appearing as Refurbished too.....lol I will check if they have cards.

Even if a receiver has NO card, believe it or not, inserting a Card into the slot should re-boot the receiver, or so I was told by the "Gods" at Express Vu.......

Inserting a card in a 6100-9200 that doesn't usually has a card woudn't do anything...how do you expect it do do anything when it's not event the card that goes with it?

I know that a few of the 6100 had cards, but I belive it represent only a little minority. In the year an a half I was at EV I think I got less than 10 clients that had 6100 that had cards.

Funny thing, Express Vu never told us back when I worked there that certain 9200 had cards. Never saw had a client that had a 9200 that had a card

When a receiver doesn't have a card the procedure to reboot it is what they call a FRONT PANNEL RESET, which is pressing the powerbutton fo abou 30 seconds on the machine itself, then the machine restarts by itself

Agent, TRY IT.

Inserting ANY card into a Reciever that is Cardless will make that receiver re-Boot.

I just did it on my 3200, 5200 and 9200.

Try it before slamming people down..........

I used a VISA Card, so hows that for high Tech.....lol

Putting any card into a SA Explorer box will do the same. They seem to be quite sensitive to that.

I used an old VISA, just in case Express Vu have installed a card reader that can charge my Credit Card.....lol

AEV, your answer to Leaf Fan shows that whatever "rumour" or "myth" that the CSR believes, is spouted to customers as the gospel when it comes to expressVu
They need to train CSR's on the basics of Expressvu's own equipment
Maybe its just me, but I think someone who is supposed to be able to trouble shoot technical issues, should in the very least, be familiar with the hardware
My $.02

It was a 9200 and I fixed the problem by holding the power button for about 20 seconds.

You would never admit to a lack of knowledge when you worked for a third party, working for Express Vu and nothing has changed. You are a perfect CSR, never admitting that you don't know everything.

As a former 'tester', er electronics tinkerer, it's well known that that back side of the ISO card socket has a microswitch used to detect card insertion.
These contacts are used to force a reset of the unit.

I've cannibalized many a dead Bev receiver in order to rescue the prized ISO readers for various security related project.

I never said I knew everything...

The help I could give is only what I was told as a CSR.

BEV probably doesn't want people to insert anything i their receivers that doesn't have cards, that's probably why they told us it woun't do anything. Or maybe they haven't tested it

Marriage test (removing the card) and front panel reset (pressing the power button until receiver powers off) gives the exact same result. I don't see why you advice (put any card in to reset) will be better than mine, do a front pannel reset.
