No 3G on my E63, Edge only! help!

Problem: I select the ATT Internet option whenever I want to go online and it totally works. BUT it's always on Edge (the little E shows up on the screen corner) and never ever 3G?! So then I went to network settings and changed it from Dual to UMTS... then the little 3G icon shows up as I expected but with no signal!! Why doesn't my 3G work? Thank you in advance for any help.
 
R u sure your in a 3g area? Maybe you bought a e63 with the wrong 3g bands. Im not sure if they made an international e63 or not.
 
You probably have an E63-1, from T-Mobile. It will only get 3G on T-Mobile in the States (and Wind in Canada).

Type *#0000# into the home screen and it should tell you which you have, amongst other things. You'd need an E63-2 for AT&T, and I suspect that you'd have to have it imported from Europe.
 
Very likely you got a European or Asia edition of the E63. The box alone would tell you if you got an E63-1, E63-2 or E63-3 at the label with the bar code. You need the -2 or -3. Many people always fall on this mistake.
 
The E73 is pretty unique to T-Mobile only. So no AT&T 3G frequencies. You only get AWS 3G on T-Mobile, Canada's Wind, and on Band 1 2100 3G on Asian, MidEast and European networks.
