Nissan Xterra Engine Whine? Timing Chain?

I have been hearing a slight engine whine when I accelerate with my 2005 Nissan Xterra for a few months. I brought it to the dealer and they say it's the timing chain and the hosuing which is plastic. Luckily it's under warranty with 47,000 miles on it. It sounds like this problem is common, according to the service writer's attitude, and I want to know what others think of that.
