Law firm Green Welling has filed a nationwide class action lawsuit against Nintendo of America on behalf of Wii owners for the defective wrist straps of the Wiimote that have caused so many injuries.

The lawsuit also seeks an injunction that requires Nintendo to correct the defect in the Wii remote and to provide a refund to the purchaser or to replace the defective Wii remote with a Wii remote that functions as it is warranted and intended. the company said in a press statement.

Web site Wii Have a Problem, located at www.wiihaveaproblem.com, has compiled a list of injuries caused by defective Wiimote straps. Some of them are in the limit between funny and life-threatening.

Haven't they already done this by doing a full recall for Wii owners?

I saw it posted on here a couple days ago and it was posted in Wallymart when I went there today.

And seriously I think people just have to be fucking retarted to do that much damage or they are just doing it on purpose to get attention.

I don't think the wrist straps has anything to do with breaking the tv, I think it the person who treat the wiimote as an actual sword as a lot to do with breaking the tv.

Some people are just retarded. Here is an interesting link for you guys I've seen on the news a couple times: http://www.wiihaveaproblem.com/

yeah, id put a good portion of the blame on the idiots who cant hang on to a controller strap or not. but then again, the strap is there to keep it on, and you would think it would be made stronger for cases like these where idiots swing like they are in the major leagues and shit. either way, dont think a lawsuit is worth the time and effort. use a bit more common sense and dont fling the controller outta control

The words common sense and lawsuit don't got together in America.

Oh, and about the Wii-strap test....

Yes, it shows the Wii strap can hold quite a bit of weight, but that force was gradually applied to the strap as opposed to a quick jerk of force. Its simple physics that tension strength is stronger when force is added gradually as opposed to quickly, which is how the force is applied when the straps break.

Don't believe me? Grab a roll of paper towels. Tear one off with a quick jerk of force. Then, try doing the same to another piece by gradually applying force. The amount of force required to tear a piece off quickly will not tear a piece off if applied gradually.

Not that I don't think the wii strap is strong enough for regular use, I'm just saying that the pic above proves nothing.

I've said it before: If the US wasn't such a litigious society, people would be forced to use common fucking sense. When there's the promise of a quick buck just around the corner, why the hell would you think twice before doing something?
