i know both bikes are intended for new riders but which one would be more enjoyable in the long run?
(everyone on here talked me out on a gsxr600)
but i plan to get one after i learn to ride WELL and have some experience on the throttle.

get a used 250r

i am a beginner rider and two months into riding. i have an 09 ninja 250r
i can honestly say that i've made mistakes that a 250r can compensate for but if i was on a 500 or 600..i mighta gotten hurt by now. things such as a smooth take off or accidently popping the clutch might not be so forgiving on a 500+

oh also:
if power is your thing (it isnt for me so im happy with the 250)
you're going to get bored within a month
but being experienced and being bored are two different things

personally i MIGHT upgrade to a 600 in a year or so but thats only because i feel like i still have a lot to learn
many many many people think they learned everything within a month or two and quickly upgrade
i think it really takes a lot longer than that to gain experience

I would say the GS500 is OK but the Ninja 250R is perfect for a first time rider, its a great introduction to sportbikes, I used to own one, they are defenitely powerful enough for a first time rider (110MPH) and they are a blast to ride, you can play around on them so much.

Listen to what this guy has to say - he ussually rides a much bigger bike, he explians everything you need to know
