Check out some of there before Once album stuff I think you'll agree that they are probably even better.

I liked the way you characterized Tarja and Anette respectively, explains it pretty well. Personally I prefer Tarja but then again I haven't listened to new Nightwish that much.
 
Absolutely ADORE Nightwish, mostly the old Nightwish, when they still had Tarja. She has such a beautiful voice. In my opinion, Anette doesn't have the vocal quality that gave the band its signature sound. Tarja has such a rich, full sound, and you can tell it's not just good training but also real talent and passion in her voice. I think Anette just makes them seem closer to popular hard rock instead of the fantasy air they're known for. But they are my favorite band and I will love them forever.
 
nightwish are an amazing band...my fave albumns century child...i didnt really like once tho... =)


i love the guitar in that band..very children of bodom...
 
I think Tarja has more technical skill than Anette, but I also found Tarja's voice over powering in Nightwish. Anette fits them better I think.
 
Some people say they are similar to Lacuna Coil and Evanescence, but that is actually not true. They are an example of popular eurometal with a lot of power metal moments. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not. I, myself, prefer Evanescence, but absolutely dislike Lacuna Coil
 
I liked Nightwish for a long time, but eventually they became boring to me. After Tarja left, I wasn't sure what to think but then I heard the Dark Passion Play samples and that album breathed new life into them for me. Anette and Tarja are completely different, but I think they're both good at what they do, and I'm going to leave it at that. I like both.

I'm going to see them March 29th, really looking forward to it!
 
how long hav you been a meraber av just joined today but am likein it so far! iv just bot a nightwish dvd and its fantastic!
 
Now that I think of it, I think my favorite Nightwish song is "The Pharaoh Sails to Orion." I love the mix of growling metal vocals and rich, operatic soprano.
