NIGHTWATCH (not the ewan magregor movie) - SiFi channel - u.k.

Yeah I have seen the trailer for it and it does look very good. Its out in UK cinema on the 10th of October but I dont know if it will be successful with it being a Russian film as that may put some people off!
I have heard that it is the first film in a trilogy!

Well if you have seen the movie (like me) you will be annoyed at all the cheap plugs for brand names , its not even funny :(

They zoom in on things like the coffee branRAB etc that it gets annoying.

The trailer makes it look great but when people find out its going to be either subbed or dubbed most of the population would just ignore the movie even if it was a classic as most people do not like subs etc.

Its a decent movie but its not as good as the UK/Internation Trailer make it all out to be.

p.s yes its the first in the trilogy, its been named as the Russian LOTR for some stupid reason, not that its the simliar but its a Trilogy and big on special fx's.

The movie looks like it was funded from adverts though and its rather annoying like i said above.

I saw the trailer for this film ages ago, when it was first mentioned on Aint It Cool News and they were making a big noise about it, thought that it looked amazing.

I tried to find more information about it, but I couldn't find much at the time, I hopped over to a Canadian DVD site and bought it - was nice and cheap and quickly delivered too. I was not disappointed!

The film truely is fantastic (albeit Nescafe's lapdog) although a tad confusing the first time you watch it.

I generally dislike subtitled films because I'm not the quickest reader in the world, apart from a few Jap films and The Passion - but the film flows very nicely (even if some of the translations are quite amusing).

I'm definatly going to see this at the cinema when it's released cos I really did like it and I urge anyone reading this too...

Erm...am I the only one who thinks the trailer looks dire? I think that's why I'm finding it so bewildering that folks love it so much!

I'm willing to give it a go, though it'll probably have to wait until it/they come out on DVD before I have a look...

UltraViolet: Sure thing. The place I got it from was www.alldvd.ca

I didn't have to pay import tax either which was quite nice. Keep in mind that the menus are in Russian (the first menu item is Play - I haven't found what others mean yet... ^_^)

We managed to see the first 15 mins at a recent bi-mon-sci-fi-con (sorry, but Simpsons fans will understand! ;) )

Anyway - as a first 15 mins go, it's not bad... not great, but not bad. I do however think the rest of the movie will rock and like you said, this will be a VERY big film.

watched this some time ago and to be prefectly honest wasn't that impressed - I heard compassions between this & the matrix and it doesn't even come close - I usually love my sci-fi but it didn't make we want to see the rest of the trilogy

I didn't realise it was supposed to be the first part of the trilogy - now the ending makes a little more sense  Not that I particularly care what will happen next...

The reason I wanted to see the film was that I was curious about this Russian fantasy film but it was nothing special :( Nothing much happened, you never cared for the characters, you never quite grasped why they were doing what they were doing or how they had ended up doing it; nonetheless, lots of pointless, noisy, spectacular stuff seemed to be going on.

Maybe fantasy just isn't my thing

Saw it this week and I pretty much agree; the movie probably has more ressinance in Russia, but I felt that it lacked the 'punch and crackle' of other Sci-Fi movies...

it's very good!

and dont let the subtitles put you off - they're fantasticly original. i dont want to spoil how they're presented, so go see it.
